The simple yet delicious combination of creamy avocado and crunchy toast is a breakfast favorite. This air fryer avocado toast recipe takes things to the next level with beef and eggs to round out your morning meal. It’s easy to make and sure to become a new favorite!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Avocado toast is such a simplistic breakfast at its core. Creamy avocado tops crunchy toast in place of your other traditional condiments like butter or jam.
But why stop there? There are lots of ways to dress up your avocado toast even further, like a nice runny egg and dried beef for texture, finished with some delicious everything but the bagel seasoning.
If that’s not up your alley, make it your own! Fresh tomatoes are another great choice, but you can add a variety of toppings and seasonings to personalize this great dish and make it your own.

What You’ll Need: Ingredients

- 2 slices whole grain bread
- 2 ripe avocados
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 tsp lemon juice (to prevent browning)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 Tbsp minced dried beef (rinsed and drained in warm water per directions)
- 1 ½ tsp everything bagel seasoning
Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
- You can use any type of bread you’d like, but I recommend something heartier than standard sandwich bread, such as an Italian boule, sourdough, or similar
- The seasonings are all adjustable to taste, so feel free to add more or less to your liking
- Lime and lemon juice are interchangeable. If you don’t have either, make sure to enjoy immediately so you don’t end up with brown, sad avocado
- The dried beef can be swapped for biltong, jerky, or turkey bacon if desired, or omitted completely
- The eggs are also optional, and can be cooked any way you like
- Avocados have a lot of natural fat, but if you prefer, you can butter your bread before toasting it
How to Make Avocado Toast in the Air Fryer
- Place your bread into the air fryer basket in a single layer

- Air fry at 400°F for 3-5 minutes, until toast is browned, then remove and set aside

- Cut your avocados in half lengthwise and twist open

- Use a spoon to pop out the pit. Then, run the spoon along the outside edge of the avocado (between the skin and flesh). Push the spoon under the front edge and work towards the back, scooping out the flesh onto a bowl or plate

- Smash the avocado into a lumpy paste with a fork (if this is difficult, your avocado isn’t fully ripe)

- Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice and stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning levels if needed

- Spray two ramekins (or similar) with nonstick spray

- Fill each ramekin with 2 tsp water and crack an egg into each

- Place the ramekins into the air fryer basket

- Cook for 6-8 minutes at 350°F, or until whites of eggs are set
- Assemble avocado toast by spreading the avocado paste on top of the toasted bread, and sprinkling minced beef over it

- Use a spatula to hold the egg in place while you drain the water, then transfer the egg on top of the toast. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning

- Cut in half if desired and serve

Recipe FAQs
How Do You Toast in an Air Fryer?
To toast in an air fryer, spread butter on bread if desired, and then place into the air fryer basket in a single layer, butter side up. Cook on the air fry setting for 3-5 minutes at 400°F, or until your toast has reached the desired level of browning.
If you don’t preheat your air fryer, an additional 1-2 minutes may be needed.
Can Avocado Go in the Air Fryer?
Yes, avocado can go in the air fryer. However, it’s typically only used when making a food such as avocado fries, which are breaded.
Though, if you wanted to heat mashed avocado on toast for example, you could place it in for a few minutes just to warm it up.
Do You Put Butter on Avocado Toast?
You can put butter on avocado toast, but it is not necessary. Avocado is naturally high in fat and creamy on its own.
However, butter or olive oil may be added for toasting if you desire.
What is the Best Bread to Use For Avocado Toast?
The best bread to use for avocado toast is a type that is dense and sturdy to support the toppings. This is usually sourdough, whole grain, or multigrain bread.
However, a hearty Italian boule, Anadama, rye, and other similar breads are also great options.
Recipe Pro Tips
- Depending on the size of your avocados and your bread, you may have enough to make more than 2 toasts
- If preferred, you can slice your avocado into thin slices and spread it along the toast. Sprinkle the seasoning over top of it if you choose to do this

Storage Tips
- The mashed avocado can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, so long as you’ve added lemon or lime juice to it
- You should not store avocado coated bread, as the bread will become soggy. Simply toast the bread when you are ready to eat and spread reserved avocado over it
