Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Flaky pastry crust around chunks of chicken, hearty vegetables, and a creamy, stick to your ribs sauce. Sound good? Well then, you’ll love a frozen chicken pot pie fresh from the air fryer.

Of course, the air fryer isn’t just limited to chicken pot pies (though they’re a classic for a reason). You’ll also find turkey, beef, and vegetable pot pies in your grocery store’s freezer section, and they’re all equally delicious fresh from the air fryer.

Frozen pot pies are available in a variety of sizes, which suit many different sized models of air fryer. There’s mini 7 ounce pot pies, standard 10 ounce, and even family sized 15-ounce versions to choose from.

While you could technically microwave it a bit faster, the crust always gets soggy. The air fryer provides that golden brown crispy crust like the oven, but in less time. It’s win-win!

How to Cook Frozen Chicken Pot Pie in an Air Fryer:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F
  2. Remove the pot pie from the box and any wrapping. If it comes in a foil pie pan, leave it in the pan (otherwise you can place it in directly). To avoid a very brown crust, you may wrap the edges of the pot pie in foil

Recipe FAQs

Can You Put Marie Callender’s In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can put Marie Callender’s, as well as other brands of frozen pot pies, in the air fryer. It cooks much the same as a conventional oven does, in nearly half the time.

There are 3 different pie sizes offered, so make sure to choose one that fits in your specific air fryer’s basket.

How Long to Cook Frozen Pot Pie in an Air Fryer?

You cook frozen pot pie in an air fryer for 20-30 minutes on average, though the time will vary based on the size of your pot pie, as well as your specific air fryer’s power level.

Larger pot pies take longer, of course, while mini pot pies may require less time. Make sure that the center of the pie reaches 165°F for food safety.

Can You Put Pies in Foil Containers in an Air Fryer?

Yes, you can put pies in foil containers in an air fryer. If it is safe for use in your oven, it is safe for use in your air fryer.

This should help the pie to hold its structure during cooking and transferring into and out of the air fryer.

Recipe Pro Tips

  • I don’t recommend covering the entire pot pie in foil, as that does extend cooking time. Rather, I only foil around the edges of the crust to prevent browning
  • The paper pans the Marie Callender pot pies come in are safe to put in your air fryer as well (in addition to the foil ones)
  • Note that it’s normal for some drips to occur as the sauce will bubble over the sides. You may want to put parchment or a liner of some kind under the pie for easier cleanup

Storage and Reheating

  • Store any leftover chicken pot pie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Do not refreeze once you have cooked the pie
  • To reheat leftover pot pie, place it back into the foil pan (or another similar oven safe dish) and air fry at 325°F for 5-7 minutes, or until heated through. You may also microwave for 1-2 minutes on high, but the crust will become soggy

Final Thoughts

This frozen chicken pot pie in the air fryer gets dinner on the table with no prep even required. It takes nearly half the time of a conventional oven (not including preheat), plus it doesn’t heat up your house. That makes this convenient meal perfect year round!

Feel free to take that extra time to make a nice, lighter side dish to accompany your pot pie to complete the meal.
