DiGiorno Pizza Bites Air Fryer Hack: Crispy Perfection!

If you’re looking for a snack and craving pizza, then DiGiorno’s pizza bites are a great choice! They’re packed with pizza toppings inside a dough wrapper, almost like a mini Hot Pocket. The DiGiorno pizza bites air fryer preparation method is my favorite, as it makes them warm, crispy, and ready quickly!

The Appeal of DiGiorno Pizza Bites

DiGiorno Stuffed Pizza Bites are the frozen pizza company’s answer to snack-sized pizza rolls, akin to Totino’s. However, Digiorno brand features a more pizza dough like crust, more filling, and an overall bigger bite when compared to the rolls (about double the size).

If you have the smaller ones, I can teach you how to make Totino’s Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer as well!

Pizza bites are available in a variety of classic pizza flavors, such as four cheese, pepperoni, supreme, or three meat varieties. The good news is that all of the flavors work great when prepared in your air fryer!

These pizza bites are ideal for quick meals, snacking, and entertaining. They’re easy to make, pair with a variety of other offerings if it’s part of a larger spread, and they’re loved by kids and adults alike!

Why Use the Air Fryer?

The air fryer is a perfect preparation method for DiGiorno pizza bites for a few reasons:

  • Texture. You’ll get a crispy and golden outside, soft dough inside, and perfectly warmed fillings with the air fryer. It’s slightly better than the oven in my opinion, and a huge improvement over the microwave
  • Cooking Time. The air fryer takes half the cooking time of a conventional oven, and that doesn’t even include the preheating time! Sure, the microwave is faster, but as I noted about you’ll sacrifice texture with this method
  • Easy. The air fryer is as easy to use as the microwave and requires little tending. This makes it easy for older kids and teens to operate and make their own snacks!

Alternate Preparation Directions

If you are interested in the other preparation directions for DiGiorno pizza bites instead of the air fryer, here are the alternatives:

  1. Microwave. Place 3 bites on a microwave safe plate and cook for 1 minute and 15 seconds. Allow to cool for a couple minutes before eating
  2. Oven. Place bites on a baking sheet in a conventional oven preheated to 350°F and bake for 22 minutes. Cool for a couple minutes before enjoying

Recipe FAQs

Can I Cook Multiple Batches of Pizza Bites in the Air Fryer?

Yes, you can cook multiple batches of DiGiorno Pizza Bites in the air fryer. However, ensure that you don’t overcrowd the basket, as this can hinder proper air circulation and result in uneven cooking.

Leave enough space between the bites to allow hot air to flow around them for consistent crispiness.

What’s the Best Way to Prevent Pizza Bites From Sticking to the Basket?

To prevent pizza bites from sticking to the air fryer basket, you can lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or brush it with a thin layer of oil before placing the bites in.

Additionally, shaking the basket during cooking can help prevent sticking and ensure even browning.

Can I Reheat Leftover Pizza Bites in the Air Fryer?

Absolutely! Reheating leftover Digiorno Pizza Bites in the air fryer is a great way to revive their crispy texture.

Preheat the air fryer to around 350°F (175°C), then arrange the bites in a single layer in the basket. Reheat for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are heated through and regain their crunch.

Are There Any Special Instructions For Different Pizza Bite Flavors?

No, there are not any special instructions for different pizza bite flavors. All the flavors may be cooked the same way.

That said, there is variation between different models and brands of air fryer, so your bites may take slightly longer or shorter than the instructions call for.

How Can I Prevent the Cheese From Melting and Dripping?

Typically, melting and dripping is minimal with pizza bites. However, if you are concerned, you can use a sheet of perforated nonstick foil or parchment to line your air fryer basket for easier cleanup.

Make sure to use perforated so as to not fully block the air flow, or the pizza bites won’t crisp evenly.

Can I Cook Other Frozen Snacks in the Air Fryer?

Yes, you can definitely use the air fryer to cook other frozen snacks, such as mozzarella sticks, chicken nuggets, and spring rolls. It’s one of the best methods for preparing frozen foods for speed and texture.

Different foods will require different cooking times and temperatures, so it’s a good idea to consult the packaging or a recipe for recommendations.

Recipe Pro Tips

  • You do not need to spray with any oil and the bites will still get golden brown and crispy. I had no issues with sticking, but feel free to spray your basket with nonstick spray if you frequently have an issue
  • You may cook as many pizza bites in the air fryer at a time as you want, so long as they fit in a single layer, without adjusting cooking time. Cook in batches if needed for larger quantities
  • This recipe was tested in my 8-qt Ninja Dual Zone air fryer. It holds about 8 DiGiorno pizza bites per basket, so I can cook an entire standard bag (approx 14 pieces) in one batch. Other sizes of air fryers will vary
