Trader Joe’s Quiche in the Air Fryer: Frozen to Flaky!

Trader Joe’s frozen section is a treasure trove of delicious options for every meal! When it comes to breakfast or brunch, this Trader Joe’s quiche air fryer cooking method is my favorite. Flaky pastry and creamy filling make for a hearty meal that doesn’t require turning on the oven.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

TJ’s makes some really delicious quiche that’s available in their freezer section. It’s a great option when you don’t want to take the time to prepare your own from scratch!

In fact, they actually have a few different sizes of quiche. I’m focusing on the regular, single serving meal size, which is about 4 ½” wide.

They also make a mini quiche duo which is available around the holidays. If you’re looking for those, check out my Air Fryer Frozen Mini Quiche recipe instead. These are a great size for appetizers!

With several different flavors to choose from, you’re sure to find one you’ll love. These small frozen quiches are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a lunch when paired with sides. They’re especially nice for spring and Easter time (but you can enjoy them year round).

Ingredients List

  • 6-ounce Trader Joe’s frozen quiche, any flavor

Ingredient Tips and Notes

  • Any flavor quiche works great. I have Trader Joe’s broccoli and cheddar quiche, but they also make a mixed mushroom and spinach flavor, and offer other flavors like ham and cheese seasonally
  • There is also a larger, 12 ounce family sized Quiche Lorraine they sell (which does not fit in a dual basket air fryer like mine). However, you can use this if you have a larger single basket or oven-style air fryer (cooking time should be around 25-30 minutes)
  • As I noted above, the mini quiches are much smaller, at around 2” wide and made as appetizers. They cook in under 10 minutes usually (but still come out great)!

Step By Step Instructions

  1. Remove the quiche from the box and plastic wrap (but leave it in the paper tray)

  1. Place Trader Joe’s frozen quiche into your air fryer’s basket or rack in a single layer

  1. Cook on the air fry setting at 350°F for 20-25 minutes, until the center reaches 165°F
  2. Serve hot or warm with your favorite sides

Alternate Cooking Directions

  • Microwave. Microwave on high for 3 minutes until the center is 165°F and set for 2 minutes before serving. Times will vary based on microwave wattage. While this method is faster, you will end up with a soggier crust and squishier texture overall (but it’s good if you’re in a rush)!
  • Oven. Cook in a conventional oven preheated to 400°F for 20-25 minutes until the center is 165°F, and rest for 2 minutes before serving. This method produces a great texture, but requires a much longer time for preheating (at least 10 more minutes)!

What to Serve With Trader Joe’s Quiche

  • Fresh fruit
  • Yogurt parfaits
  • Green salad
  • Spinach salad
  • Potato salad
  • Roasted potatoes
  • Hash browns
  • Muffins
  • Scones
  • Breakfast sausage
  • Bacon
  • Soup
  • Smoothies
  • Mimosas
  • Chardonnay

Much of what you serve with your frozen quiche depends on the time of day you’re enjoying it! You can also tailor the flavors to compliment the flavors of your quiche, like bacon with a quiche lorraine for breakfast, or broccoli cheddar soup with a broccoli cheddar quiche for lunch.

Recipe FAQs

Can I Cook a Frozen Trader Joe’s Quiche in the Air Fryer?

Yes, the air fryer is excellent for cooking frozen quiches such as Trader Joe’s.

The quiche cooks directly from frozen, with no defrosting required, and you can cook in the tray it comes in (with plastic wrap removed) for ease in transferring it.

Is Trader Joe’s Quiche Precooked?

Yes, Trader Joe’s quiche is precooked, so you are really just reheating it from a frozen state when you prepare it.

That is why Trader Joe’s recommends cooking to an internal temperature of 165°F, which is consistent with USDA recommendations for reheated food.

What Temperature Is Ideal for Air Frying Trader Joe’s Quiche?

Typically, a temperature between 350°F to 375°F works well, depending on your air fryer’s available settings. Cooking time may need to be adjusted slightly as you change the temperature.

Lower temperatures work, but take longer to cook, while higher temperatures tend to over brown the top before the center warms.

How Do I Prevent the Crust From Becoming Too Crispy in the Air Fryer?

If the crust or top of the quiche is becoming crispy or overly brown, cover the edges of the crust or the top with foil.

This usually extends the cooking time needed by a few minutes, but will slow the browning or crisping process.

Are There Any Ways to Enhance the Flavor of Trader Joe’s Quiche?

Sure! You can add some additional herbs or spices on top of the quiche, or sprinkle on some cheese in the last few minutes of cooking to alter the flavor of the quiche.

Feel free to serve the quiche with complimentary sides, such as a green salad with a vinaigrette dressing, which can be consumed alongside the quiche to add additional flavors.

Can I Use the Air Fryer to Reheat Leftover Slices of Trader Joe’s Quiche?

Absolutely! If you have leftovers of Trader Joe’s (or any brand of quiche, including homemade) you can reheat it in the air fryer.

Use a lower temperature of 325°F-330°F for 3-5 minutes, depending on the size of your slice, or until warmed through.

Recipe Pro Tips

  • TJ’s quiche cooks directly from frozen – no need to defrost!
  • I do not preheat my air fryer for this recipe. Since it cooks in a pan it doesn’t make much of a difference. However, based on how fast your specific air fryer gets up to temperature, you may need to adjust cooking time by a minute or two
  • My Trader Joe’s quiche was cooked in a Ninja Dual Zone air fryer and was perfect after 25 minutes, verified via instant read thermometer. Other air fryers may vary slightly, so adjust as needed
  • If you’re looking to reduce cooking time, you can raise the temperature to 400°F, and then it should cook in about 15 minutes. However, the top will get significantly more browned, which is why I choose to cook longer at a lower temperature

Storage and Reheating Tips

  • While this is a single serving size, if you do have leftover Trader Joe’s quiche, you can refrigerate it for 4-5 days
  • To reheat quiche in the air fryer, cook at a lower temperature of 325°F-330°F for 3-5 minutes, until warmed through. Time can vary slightly based on the size of the portion and your specific air fryer. This method works for other brands (as well as homemade) leftover quiche as well

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe’s frozen quiche is delicious as a breakfast or brunch option, or even lunch with a nice soup or salad. It’s creamy, flavorful, and surrounded by a flaky pastry crust. The air fryer does a great job of cooking it without the need for the big oven or preheating!

However, the real time saver is in not having to prepare your own. TJ’s quiches are delicious, fully cooked, and ready to enjoy after heating with no fuss required.
