Mini corn dogs are the perfect snack when you want something tasty, quick, and easy to make! Kids love them, they’re great for parties, and they remind lots of people of the fair. You don’t need to sweat it out this summer, though – make these air fryer frozen mini corn dogs instead!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

These frozen mini corndogs are an easy air fryer recipe that results in perfectly crispiness outside with a hot, tender inside—no sogginess or greasy texture like you might get from the microwave!

The air fryer cooks them evenly in just a few minutes without preheating, and no extra oil needed (unlike the deep fryer). It’s a great option for a fast snack, quick lunch, party appetizer, or kid-friendly easy dinner with minimal cleanup.

Plus, you don’t need to fire up the oven in the summer heat, so you can stay cool to enjoy your favorite carnival snack right at home. I love these crispy corn dogs, too, because you can always keep them on hand in the freezer, and your older kids and teens can prepare them to feed themselves!

Ingredients Needed

box of frozen mini corn dogs
  • Frozen mini corn dogs, any brand
  • Dipping sauce if desired (optional)

Ingredient Notes and Tips

  • Any brand of frozen mini corn dogs is fine. State Fair is a widely popular brand, but I often make Great Value. You can find them at Aldi, Target, and Trader Joe’s too!
  • A serving is usually around 4 mini corn dogs (though it can vary between brands). However, you can cook as many at a time as fit in your air fryer in a single layer, without changing cooking time!

  • Ketchup
  • BBQ sauce
  • Hot sauce

  1. Air fry at 380°F for 5 minutes (if your air fryer doesn’t have a setting for 380°F, anything between 375°F and 390°F will work)! Shake the basket, and then cook an additional 4-6 minutes, or until the outside is crispy and golden brown, and the interior reaches 165°F
  2. Cool for 1-2 minutes (they will be hot) and serve with your favorite dipping sauces!

Pairing Suggestions

Here are some of my favorite side options to make your mini corn dogs great for everything from quick weeknight dinners to party trays and game day spreads!

  • Coleslaw – A tangy, refreshing contrast that helps cut through the richness
  • Baked beans – A sweet and savory side that pairs well with the cornmeal coating. Try my Air Fryer Baked Beans!
  • Potato salad – Great for picnics or cookouts, especially when served cold. My Air Fryer Potato Salad is a creamy, delicious side option!
  • Corn on the cob or corn salad – A fun play on flavors, especially in summer. Make some Air Fryer Frozen Corn on the Cob to keep it simple!
  • Pickles or pickle spears – Adds a crisp, tangy bite to the meal
  • Vegetable sticks (carrots, celery, bell peppers) – A crunchy and colorful balance to the fried main!
  • Side salad – Lightens up the plate and adds a fresh component

Recipe FAQs

How Long Does It Take To Cook Mini Corn Dogs In An Air Fryer?

Generally, cooking time for frozen mini corn dogs in the air fryer is 8 to 10 minutes at a temperature of 380°F.

Time can vary slightly between different brands of corn dog as well as different air fryers (especially how fast they come to temperature). You may need to adjust by a couple minutes for your specific unit.

Can You Cook Mini Corn Dogs In The Microwave?

Yes, you can cook mini corn dogs in the microwave. The method is faster, but the result is much soggier and soft overall when compared to the air fryer.

If you prefer time to texture, place  mini corn dogs on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave for about 1 minute on high for a single serving (times can vary slightly by microwave wattages).

Can You Air Fry Frozen Mini Corn Dogs?

Yes, you can absolutely air fry frozen mini corn dogs. No defrosting is required at all; place them directly in your air fryer’s basket or rack and cook, flipping once to prevent cold spots from forming on the bottom as they heat.

Tips For the Best Air Fryer Mini Corn Dogs

  • Make sure to check your corn dogs frequently near the end of the cooking time! Time can vary slightly between brands of air fryer and corn dog, and overcooking can make them dry, so you want to try and avoid that!
  • You do not need to add any oil before cooking. There is enough frozen in the dough to get them crispy and golden as is!
  • I do not preheat my air fryer for this recipe (if you do, it should take 2-3 minutes less time). My Ninja air fryer had them cooked in 11 minutes total (verified via instant read thermometer). Different brands of dogs and air fryer can vary, so adjust as needed!

Storage and Reheating Tips

Storage

  • Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. I don’t recommend freezing them again after cooking once, as the texture starts to deteriorate

Reheating

  • Air Fryer: Reheat corn dog bites at 350°F for 3–5 minutes until crisp and heated through (I think this way is the best combo for time and texture)!
  • Oven: Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through
  • Microwave: For a quick option, microwave on a plate for 30–60 seconds, though they will lose crispness

Final Thoughts

Air fryer frozen mini corn dogs is the perfect easy recipe for one of my favorite snacks! I mean, what’s not to love? Mini hot dogs are wrapped in a cornbread-like batter that cooks up fluffy and golden brown in the air fryer for a delicious appetizer or light meal.

I usually serve them with ketchup or mustard to add flavor, but they’re also perfectly poppable and taste great on their own!

Of course, the air fryer can do more than just the mini version – check out my recipe for Air Fryer State Fair Corn Dogs for the full sized option, which is a better option for a full meal (versus a snack)!
