These air fryer double chocolate muffins are moist, packed with chocolate flavor, and delicious! They’re perfect for breakfast on the go or the brunch table.
In a medium mixing bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together so they’re well-distributed
2 Cups all purpose flour, ½ Cup cocoa powder, 2 Tsp baking powder, 1 Tsp baking soda, 1 Tsp salt, 1 Cup granulated sugar
Make a well in the center and add the wet ingredients
2 Large eggs, 2 Tsp vanilla extract, ½ Cup butter, ¾ Cup milk
Stir until just combined (do not overmix)
Fold in your chocolate chips
1 Cup semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat your air fryer to 325°F (or the closest setting your air fryer has)
Pour the batter into your muffin cups, filling about ¾ of the way full
Place the muffin cups into the preheated air fryer basket
Cook on the air fry setting for 12-15 minutes at 325°F
Muffins are done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Add additional cooking time in small increments if needed
Allow muffins to cool before removing wrappers, then enjoy
Notes
Use whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour for a healthier option (but they will be denser)
You can swap in brown sugar in place of the granulated sugar if needed, or use honey or maple syrup for natural sweeteners
Butter can be swapped for olive oil or canola oil (or split half and half)
Use any kind of milk that you like, including buttermilk
The semisweet chocolate chips can be swapped for milk, dark, or bittersweet based on your preference
If you are making mini muffins, drop to 10 minutes cooking time to start. For extra large “jumbo” muffins, increase the cooking time to 20 minutes to start
This recipe makes around 24 standard size muffins, with standard silicone liners being a tad smaller than the paper liners you’d get in the store
It’s completely fine to cook in batches. My Ninja air fryer 8-qt model can cook 12 muffins at a time, but other sizes of air fryer will vary
Store muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days, or refrigerate for up to 1 week. Once completely cool, they may also be packaged for freezing for up to 6 months
While muffins are perfect served room temperature, if you’d like a warm double chocolate muffin, microwave for about 30 seconds, or place in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes at 350°F
Exact nutritional values will vary based on brand of ingredients, any swaps or sides added, and total quantity consumed, so please consider this a guideline only
