Top with the champagne (pour slowly so you don’t overflow the glass)
3 ½ Ounces champagne
Garnish with a slice of blood orange or a twist of peel, and serve
Notes
You can use bottled blood orange juice as well, but note that it is typically sweeter
For a sweeter drink (or if your oranges are very tart), you can add up to ½ ounce simple syrup (adjust to taste)
If you prefer a stronger drink, add more orange liquor (such as Grand Marnier or Triple Sec), some plain or orange vodka, or some Elderflower liquor (like St. Germain) for a complimentary option
This recipe assumes the use of a 6 ounce champagne flute. As flutes can vary in size (up to 10 ounces) you may need to adjust the quantity of champagne added. For anything over 8 ounces, I recommend using 1.5 - 2x the other ingredients to preserve proportions
You can squeeze your oranges and add any sweetener desired in advance. Mix in the triple sec,and store in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Add to individual glasses and top with chilled champagne just before serving for best fizz levels
This recipe scales well for a pitcher for parties. Just store the juice in a carafe and create a make your own mimosa bar!
