Instructions
In a bowl, combine the apples, lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Stir to mix well and set aside
4 Medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced, 1 Tsp lemon juice, 2 Tbsp brown sugar, 1 Tsp cinnamon, ½ Tbsp cornstarch
Using a second bowl, mix the butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and cream together to make the batter. It should be a thick, pancake batter like consistency
4 Tbsp salted butter, ½ Cup all purpose flour, ¼ Cup brown sugar, ½ Tsp baking powder, 1 Tsp cinnamon, ¼ Cup heavy cream or half and half
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F, and grease the ramekins or whatever pan you’re using
Divide the apple filling evenly amongst the ramekins (or just spread in an even layer across the bottom of your larger single pan)
Top the apple filling with dollops of batter. Do not spread the batter out, but rather leave pockets which allow for steam to escape during cooking
Place the filled dishes into the preheated air fryer basket
Cook on the air fry setting for 15 minutes at 350°F, or until the cobbler topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly
Cool for at least 5 minutes, then serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired
Notes
Any type of apples are fine. Granny Smith is common in baking, but I’m using Jazz apples which are also firm and on the tart side. Use your favorite!
The all purpose flour may be swapped for whole wheat flour, or a gluten free flour if needed. The texture will be denser as a result, but still delicious
You may use granulated sugar in place of the brown sugar if needed
Experiment with different spices in place of cinnamon, such as ginger, nutmeg, or apple pie spice!
The 15-minute cooking time is perfect for ramekins of apple cobbler in a Ninja air fryer. For a full pan (instead of ramekins) start with 20 minutes. Remember that other air fryers may vary, so adjust cooking time as needed
You can adjust the overall sweetness by adding more or less sugar, especially depending on the sweetness levels of the apples you choose
Store leftover apple cobbler covered in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days. You may also freeze the cobbler prior to cooking for up to 3 months
To reheat, place a cobbler portion in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 350°F, or until warmed through. Alternatively, you may microwave on high for 30-60 seconds, but the topping will get more mushy with this method
Exact nutritional values will vary based on brand and variety of ingredients, any swaps, toppings added, and quantity consumed, so please consider this a guideline only
