Spray your air fryer basket with nonstick spray (or line with perforated parchment)
Open the biscuits, separate them, and place them into the air fryer basket with at least ½” of air space between each one
8 Count refrigerated canned biscuits
Cook on the air fry setting at 325°F (or 330°F, depending on your air fryer’s available settings) for 6 minutes for regular biscuits, or 8-10 minutes for the larger Grands size, or until golden brown
Allow biscuits to cool slightly, then split them in half (into a top and a bottom)
To the bottom, add reserved sliced strawberries and whipped cream, then top with the top half (you can add more whipped cream and/or strawberries on top, if desired)
Whipped cream
Dust with powdered sugar or a fresh mint leaf for garnish (optional) and enjoy
Notes
You can use refrigerated or frozen biscuits. I prefer buttermilk or butter flavored, but feel free to use your favorite. You can also make your own; I’ll include some tips below
The fresh strawberries can be swapped for frozen if needed. Make sure to defrost them in advance. You can use plain frozen strawberries, or sliced in sugar, and then you don’t need to add the sugar
Swap the sugar for honey or agave if you prefer a natural sweetener option
You can use Redi Whip, Cool Whip, or make your own whipped cream if preferred
My Ninja air fryer can hold 2-3 Grands size biscuits per 4-qt zone, so I can cook 6 at a time comfortably. I usually do two batches of 4 just to keep it even
If you split a biscuit open and it’s still raw in the middle don’t panic! Put it back in the air fryer for another couple of minutes and you’re good to go
Remember that “over done” is better than undercooked in this case, as even if you make your biscuits dry, the lovely strawberry syrup that forms as the berries soak will moisten them up again
Strawberry shortcake is best enjoyed fresh, as the strawberries will make the cakes soggy the longer they sit. You may store leftover biscuits and strawberry slices separately in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat the biscuit for 2-3 minutes at 325°F in the air fryer before serving
You may also prepare the components up to 24 hours in advance and just assemble the dessert when ready to save time
Exact nutritional values will vary based on size and brand of ingredients, any swaps or additions, and actual quantity consumed, so please consider this a guideline only
