Naan is such a versatile dish, I always love to have some on hand in the freezer to prepare it quickly. That’s why I love Trader Joe’s naan in the air fryer! It’s fast, convenient, and comes out perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of crispy edges to make it amazing!

Why You’ll Love Trader Joe’s Naan in Your Air Fryer
Making Trader Joe’s naan in your air fryer is a convenient way to enjoy this versatile flatbread. The air fryer provides a quick and easy method to achieve a crispy texture on the outside with a soft and chewy inside, mimicking the traditional tandoor oven experience!
You can cook your frozen naan without defrosting, meaning that there’s no prep time required, and it still comes out great! Plus, I love that I really just need to flip it once and that’s all the attention it needs.
Naan is one of those things that’s always great to have on hand. You can pair it with curry or similar dishes as a side, use it as a pizza base or wrap, or enjoy it on its own (with some delicious chutney of course)!

Trader Joe’s makes both a plain and a garlic version. I’m a big fan of the garlic, but both options work equally well, so you can choose your favorite!

Recipe FAQs
Can You Cook Trader Joe’s Naan In An Air Fryer?
Yes, you can cook Trader Joe’s naan in an air fryer.
It is a quick and convenient method that gives the naan a crispy exterior while keeping the inside soft and chewy.
What Temperature Should I Set The Air Fryer To For Trader Joe’s Naan?
The recommended temperature for cooking Trader Joe’s frozen naan in an air fryer is typically 400°F (200°C).
This ensures that the naan heats evenly and achieves the desired crispy texture without burning.
How Long Do I Cook Trader Joe’s Naan In The Air Fryer?
Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model, but generally, Trader Joe’s naan should be cooked for about 3-5 minutes.
Check periodically to ensure the naan is crispy and heated through.
Do I Need To Preheat The Air Fryer Before Cooking Trader Joe’s Naan?
Preheating the air fryer is optional for cooking Trader Joe’s naan. However, preheating can help achieve a more consistent and even texture.
If you choose to preheat, do so for about 3 minutes at 400°F before placing the naan inside, and reduce cooking time by 1-2 minutes.
Can I Add Toppings To Trader Joe’s Naan Before Air Frying?
Yes, you can add toppings like garlic butter, herbs, or cheese to Trader Joe’s naan when air frying.
Start with the naan face down, then add the toppings after you flip it face up. Watch it closely, especially if adding cheese, to make sure your toppings do not burn.
Is Trader Joe’s Naan In The Air Fryer Healthier Than Cooking It In The Oven?
No. Since TJ’s naan is pre-cooked and frozen, and neither method requires added oil, the air fryer is exactly the same as the oven when it comes to a health perspective.
The main difference is cooking time. Since the air fryer doesn’t need to preheat like the oven, it can cook the naan in about half the time (factoring in the oven preheat).
Recipe Pro Tips For Making the Best Frozen Naan
- You do not need to add any oil when cooking your TJ’s frozen naan. Since it’s pre-cooked and frozen, it has everything it needs already in it. I had no problems with sticking, but if you’re concerned you can spritz your basket with nonstick spray
- I do not preheat my air fryer when making frozen naan, and 4 minutes is perfect. I have a Ninja Dual Zone, so other air fryers may vary slightly, so you can add an extra minute if you need for yours in particular!
- If you have a basket style air fryer and your baskets are too narrow, it’s perfectly fine to put the naan in at a slight angle (each piece of naan was a slightly different size, so about half fit and half were at an angle with my narrow Dual Zone baskets)

Storage and Reheating of Leftover Naan
- Store your leftover naan in an airtight container or zippered bag in the refrigerator for up to 2 days (do not refreeze). It can technically stay at room temperature for about a day, but I feel it’s fresher tasting when you refrigerate it
- To reheat naan in the air fryer, air fry at a lower temperature of 350°F for 2-3 minutes, until warmed through and recrisped. This also works for restaurant leftovers!

Trader Joe’s Naan Air Fryer Review
I love making Trader Joe’s frozen naan in my air fryer, because it’s ready in under 5 minutes. I mean, it doesn’t get much simpler than that! I usually serve it up as a side with some chicken tikka masala, and this lets me focus on making that, and my naan still comes out great!
Admittedly, I’ve never had the plain naan, because I’m a big garlic lover. TJ’s delivers, with noticeable chunks of garlic present in the naan. There’s technically coriander leaves in it as well, but I honestly can’t taste them at all – it’s very garlic forward.
Since the naan is pre-cooked before freezing, it’s got a deep brown bottom that crisps up really nice in the air fryer, while the top stays soft, which gives it the texture of baking in a tandoor oven (without actually having the oven)!
As long as you like garlic (or try the plain) this frozen naan is a must for me when visiting TJ’s. It’s my go-to side for Indian dinners, but they make great bases for individual pizzas, delicious sandwiches and wraps, and I’ll also shamelessly dip pieces of naan into hummus for a snack.
Final Thoughts
Since it only takes under 5 minutes to make frozen Trader Joe’s naan in the air fryer, you really can’t go wrong for a quick and easy side, snack, or even meal!
I serve it up with Indian fare for dinner, dip it in hummus as a snack, or make individual pizzas for the family with naan as the base. It’s so versatile, and being able to keep your naan in the freezer means you can always have it on hand!
