Ingredients List

- 15 ounce bag frozen Trader Joe’s seasoned corn ribs
- Toppings as desired (pictured: lime wedges, cilantro, crumbled cotija cheese)
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- Trader Joe’s corn ribs are seasoned with vegan butter (plant-based) and salt, so they’re naturally gluten free and vegan
- The way I serve them is elote-style (they also make an Everything But the Elote seasoning that works great). However, other great seasoning options include Cajun seasoning, chile powder, honey butter, parmesan, fresh herbs, sour cream or mayonnaise (true street corn style) or anything else you like on your corn!
Step By Step Instructions
- Place the frozen corn ribs in your air fryer in a single layer (with a little air space between each one to promote good air flow, which gives better crisping)

- Cook on the air fry setting at 400°F for 10-15 minutes (check at 10, then add additional time in 1- to 2-minute increments until desired level of browning is reached). You can flip them halfway through cooking if you like, but I don’t find it necessary personally

- Add any extra toppings you like, and serve hot. Enjoy!

Recipe FAQs
Are Trader Joe’s Corn Ribs Good?
Yes! Trader Joe’s corn ribs are sweet, tender, and slightly smoky, with a fun shape that’s easy to season and cook. The air fryer gives them delicious caramelized edges while keeping the corn juicy.
What To Do With Trader Joe’s Corn Ribs?
Air fry them with your favorite seasonings, then serve them as a side dish, appetizer, or snack. They’re especially good with garlic butter, Cajun seasoning, Parmesan, chili lime seasoning, or a creamy dipping sauce.
Do You Eat The Whole Thing?
You eat the corn kernels, but not the tough corn cob in the center. Hold the corn rib by the edges and eat the kernels right off the cob, similar to eating corn on the cob.
How Else Can I Prepare Them?
Besides the air fryer, you can prepare Trader Joe’s corn ribs in the oven (bake 10-12 minutes at 425°F) or in the microwave (1-2 minutes for ⅓ of the bag in a 1200W microwave).
The microwave is fast (but won’t roast or brown the corn), while oven roasting is an easy option when you’re cooking a larger batch.
Tips For the Best Trader Joe’s Corn Ribs
- You can cook as many corn ribs at a time as fit in your air fryer in a single layer, without changing cooking time. Mine is 8 qt and easily fits the whole bag, but you may need to cook in batches for a very small air fryer
- As pictured, this recipe was cooked for 15 minutes in my Ninja Dual Zone air fryer (without preheating). Other brands and models can vary slightly, so adjust cooking time by a minute or two if needed for your specific setup

Storage and Reheating
Storage Tips
- Let the corn ribs cool completely before transferring them to an airtight container
- Refrigerate for up to 4 days for the best flavor and texture
- I do not recommend re-freezing them after they’ve been cooked once, as the texture will start to get mushy
- Store toppings and dipping sauces separately when possible to help the corn stay crisp!
Reheating Tips
- Air fryer (best method): Reheat at 350°F for 3-5 minutes, flipping halfway through, until hot and lightly crisped
- Oven: Heat at 375°F for 8-10 minutes until warmed through
- Microwave: Heat in 30-second intervals until hot, but expect the corn to be softer
- Add fresh toppings after reheating. A little Parmesan, cilantro, lime juice, or sauce can bring the leftovers back to life!
Trader Joe’s Corn Ribs Review
My take on Trader Joe’s corn ribs is that they’re a quick and easy side dish, and I find them especially nice for summer cookouts as a BBQ side. Having made my own homemade corn ribs, this version is so easy to just toss in and cook and skip all the messy prep!
Cooking them in my air fryer is super hands off, just toss them in and let it go. The result is corn with an amazing roasted flavor (it even rivals the grill, though with less char)!
I find them to be softer overall than making fresh corn ribs, with the kernels coming out super tender, but still juicy inside. I personally feel they need added seasoning (I don’t enjoy them as much as-is from the package).
These corn ribs have less traditional buttery flavor than I’m looking for too. I suspect it’s the use of plant butter, which, if you’re used to regular dairy butter like I am, you may also find you want to add some regular butter to compensate.
Additionally, I would note that frequently, my corn ribs are missing kernels, which is a little disappointing. They also vary a lot in size as I’m sure you can see from my pictures, and note that the small ones take less time to cook overall (closer to 10 minutes for the short ones).
So, are they a simple and dependable side dish option? Absolutely. Are they a must have, can’t live without sort of dish for me? No. However, I still usually grab a bag when I’m at the store just to have on hand for a quick side, especially if you dress them up a little!
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a quick and easy side dish, or just want to try corn ribs for the first time without trying to make them yourself, then Trader Joe’s corn ribs are a great choice! I love the way the air fryer gets them browned, roasted, and still so tender.
