The screaming ghost cocktail is a mashup of a liquid ghost and screaming ‘O’ cocktail that’s perfect for Halloween! The ghostly white color adds the perfect eerie feeling, while the creamy combination of coconut, vanilla, and coffee is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

What is a Screaming Ghost Cocktail?
A screaming ghost cocktail is a spooky, Halloween-themed drink with a “ghostly” white color palette. It’s not stark white, but rather an off-white (I sometimes jokingly refer to it as a dirty ghost)!
The name comes from the other mixed drinks that it’s derived from – namely the liquid ghost and the screaming orgasm cocktail. It’s a delicious mashup that gives you a creamy, sweet, and delicious cocktail that will make you want to scream (in happiness)!
Both drinks are vodka based, with the liquid ghost lending coconut, white chocolate, and vanilla flavors, while the screaming ‘O’ adds Bailey’s and coffee liqueur to the mix! Of course, you can customize it a bit more to your personal tastes as well if desired.

Screaming Ghost Cocktail Ingredients

- 1 oz vanilla vodka
- 1 oz white chocolate liqueur
- ½ oz coffee liqueur (such as Kahlua or Tia Maria)
- 1 oz Bailey’s Irish cream (regular or caramel works well)
- 1 ½ oz heavy cream
- 2 oz coconut milk
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- You can also use whipped cream vodka instead of vanilla vodka
- The white chocolate liqueur or the coffee liqueur can be swapped for amaretto or an orange liqueur like Cointreau to create different flavor combinations if preferred
- For a sweeter drink, you can use cream of coconut instead of coconut milk if you’d like (but I find it plenty sweet as is)
How to Make a Screaming Ghost Cocktail
- Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker (or a mason jar if you don’t have one) along with a couple ice cubes

- Shake until chilled and lightly frothy, about 20-30 seconds, then strain into a lowball rocks glass (or martini glass)

- Garnish with a ghost marshmallow, candy eyeballs, or whipped cream if desired, and enjoy!

Recipe FAQs
What Ingredients Are Common For a Screaming Ghost Cocktail?
A screaming ghost includes vanilla or whipped vodka, white chocolate liqueur, coffee liqueur, Bailey’s, heavy cream, and coconut milk, for a creamy, decadent drink.
The ingredients are derived as a mix of the liquid ghost, which is coconut vodka, vanilla syrup, white chocolate liqueur, and heavy cream, and the screaming orgasm cocktail, which is vodka, coffee liqueur, amaretto (or sometimes orange liqueur), Irish cream, heavy cream, and milk.
How Can You Garnish A Screaming Ghost Cocktail?
Common garnishes include edible eyes or rimmed glasses with sugar to add a pop of color (whether black or another Halloween-themed color).
Alternatives might be a float of grenadine for a “bloody” effect, ghost shaped marshmallows, or a whipped cream or soft serve vanilla ice cream topper.
Can The Screaming Ghost Cocktail Be Made Non-Alcoholic?
Yes, you can create a non-alcoholic mocktail version of the Screaming Ghost Cocktail by using coconut milk, cream soda or Sprite, and coffee or fruit juice in place of the alcohols.
The drink is naturally a little off white (I sometimes call it a dirty ghost) so as long as you stick with lighter ingredients you’ll be fine.
Recipe Pro Tips For the Best Screaming Ghost Cocktail
- If you plan to top your drink with whipped cream, I recommend doing it just before serving. The whipped cream tends to melt into the drink fairly rapidly, so unless you want a melted ghost, you’ll want to consume it immediately
- Coconut milk has a tendency to separate in the can (assuming you’re getting a canned version), so make sure to stir it very well to re-mix it before adding it to your drink!
- I find the liqueurs make this drink plenty sweet, but if you want a sweeter drink, you can add a little simple syrup, honey, or coconut cream to taste

Storage and Serving Tips For the Screaming Ghost Cocktail
- You can scale this cocktail for parties, to easily make as many servings as you want. Instead of a shaker, you can combine everything together in a pitcher or carafe and stir it very well before serving (either store it in the fridge, or add ice to individual glasses)
- If you want to add additional ice to your drink before serving, that’s totally fine. I prefer to avoid the dilution, but it’s completely up to you and your personal preferences!
- Glassware. A screaming ghost can be served in any glassware you like! A screaming orgasm cocktail is typically served in a hurricane, while a liquid ghost is served in a martini glass, so use your favorite cocktail glasses! Frosted or black glassware are alternative options that can add an extra eerie touch for Halloween parties
- Candy Corn Shot
Final Thoughts
The screaming ghost is a fun Halloween cocktail that’s a twist on the liquid ghost, mixing it up with the screaming ‘O’ drink. The vanilla, coffee, and coconut flavors make it creamy, delicious, and the perfect spooky look for the season.
Of course, like most cocktails, you can customize it a bit to your liking, by swapping in different flavors of vodka and liqueurs to suit your personal preferences.
