If you love all things fall and pumpkin, then you’ll enjoy this pumpkin pie martini! This cocktail is inspired by the classic Thanksgiving dessert, but you can enjoy this smooth sip all fall. I make my version with vanilla vodka and RumChata for an extra creamy taste.

What is a Pumpkin Pie Martini?
A pumpkin pie martini is a creamy, dessert-inspired cocktail that captures the rich, spiced flavors of pumpkin pie. It’s made with a combination of vanilla vodka, RumChata or another cream liqueur, and pumpkin puree (or pumpkin liqueur).
For finishing touches, add a rim of graham cracker or gingersnap crumbs, or add a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon for those great autumnal vibes.
The pumpkin pie martini is especially popular during the fall because of its flavor profile, and it’s one of my favorites to serve at Thanksgiving (though it’s definitely suitable for Halloween too)!

Pumpkin Pie Martini Ingredients

- 2 ounces vanilla vodka
- 1 ounce RumChata
- 2 Tbsp pumpkin puree
- ¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 2-3 ounces half and half (depending on desired strength)
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup (or to taste)
For the Rim
- Crushed gingersnap cookies or graham crackers (about 2 Tbsp)
- Extra maple syrup
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- You can also use whipped cream vodka or plain with about ½ tsp of vanilla extract for flavor. Change things up by substituting a whipped cream flavored whiskey or bourbon!
- Instead of RumChata, you can use a similar cream liqueur like Baileys if preferred
- Make sure to use pumpkin puree and not pie filling (which has sugar and spices added). If you don’t want to use real puree, you can use a pumpkin flavoring syrup (1-2 tsp), or a pumpkin-flavored liqueur instead (about 1 ounce)
- The maple can be adjusted to personal tastes, and you may not need it if you use a pumpkin syrup as that will be sweet. You can also substitute honey if preferred
- Feel free to add a dollop of whipped cream to the top of the drink for serving, like a real piece of pumpkin pie!
How to Make a Pumpkin Pie Martini
- To rim your glass, add a little maple syrup to a plate or shallow bowl, and add your graham cracker or gingersnap crumbs to the other. Dip the rim of your martini glass in the maple syrup, then into the crumbs, turning to coat

- Add all cocktail ingredients to a shaker along with a couple ice cubes

- Shake until well chilled and lightly frothy, 15-20 seconds, then strain into your prepared martini glass

- Garnish with whipped cream and a cinnamon stick if desired (optional) and enjoy!

Recipe FAQs
What Type Of Vodka Should I Use For A Pumpkin Pie Martini?
The most common choices of vodka for a pumpkin pie martini are vanilla or whipped/marshmallow flavored vodkas. You can also use plain vodka like Tito’s and add pumpkin or vanilla syrup to compensate for the flavor.
Pumpkin-flavored vodka is also an option, but is usually seasonal and difficult to find, and it can also be overly sweet, making it harder to control the overall sweetness of your drink.
Is A Pumpkin Pie Martini Gluten Free?
The pumpkin pie martini itself is gluten free. However, you’ll want to skip the rim of graham crackers or gingersnaps. You can use cinnamon sugar in its place if desired.
As always, make sure to check your individual ingredients to ensure no cross contamination has occurred, but your martini should be otherwise gluten free!
What Are Some Snack Pairings For A Pumpkin Pie Martini?
The pumpkin pie martini pairs well with rich, fall-inspired appetizers and desserts. Deviled eggs, cheese platters, and even sweet treats like spiced cookies or pumpkin desserts make excellent accompaniments.
Its creamy texture and sweet-spicy flavor complement savory and sweet bites alike.
Recipe Pro Tips For the Best Pumpkin Pie Martini
- Adjust the strength of the drink as desired by adding more or less half and half (I usually use about 3 ounces and find this to be a medium strength drink)
- To alter the sweetness, you can use more or less maple syrup as desired. As written, this drink is on the sweeter side but not cloyingly sweet
- For an even colder drink, chill your martini glasses in advance!

Pumpkin Pie Martini Storage and Serving Tips
- A martini glass is the most common serving choice for this martini. However, you could use a coupe or white wine glass as well
- This cocktail is best enjoyed fresh. However, you can mix up to 24 hours in advance and store in a pitcher in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Stir well before pouring into individual glasses
