Ingredients List

By the Glass:
- 2 oz Sauvignon Blanc (or another white wine of choice)
- ½ oz elderflower liqueur (such as St Germain)
- ½ oz lavender simple syrup
- 3 oz blueberry or lemon sparkling water
- 6-8 fresh or frozen blueberries
- 2-3 slices fresh lemon
For a Pitcher:
- 750 mL bottle white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc)
- 1 cup elderflower liqueur (or ¾ cup if you want it a little more subtle)
- ½ cup lavender simple syrup (or to taste)
- 36 ounces blueberry sparkling water (or to taste)
- 6 ounces fresh or frozen blueberries
- 2-3 whole lemons, sliced
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- Since the simple syrup and liqueur add a little sweetness, I recommend a drier white wine for this sangria (avoid Moscato as I think it becomes too sweet)
- The elderflower liqueur can be swapped for triple sec or another orange liqueur, or another liqueur of choice (blueberry, other berries, or florals are great choices)
- I use Torani lavender simple syrup, but you can use your favorite brand, or even homemade. Sugar free is absolutely fine as well!
- Instead of the sparkling water, you could use club soda or seltzer, or for a sweeter option, use some lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite. Note that I use Topo Chico sparkling water, which is purple in color – other brands will change the overall color of your drink
- The fruit is customizable, but blueberry and lemon are great pairings with lavender. You could also try strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, or peaches for some other top choices!
Step By Step Instructions
- Add the white wine, elderflower liqueur, and lavender syrup to a wine glass and stir gently to combine

- Fill the glass with ice, layering in the fresh fruit as well

- Top with the sparkling water, and gently stir again to combine if desired. Enjoy!

Pitcher Directions
- Mix white wine, elderflower liqueur, simple syrup, and fruit together in a pitcher (or similar airtight container). Store in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours
- When ready to serve, fill individual glasses with ice and extra fruit if desired, then stir the wine mixture, and pour to fill each glass approximately halfway
- Top with sparkling water and serve!

Recipe FAQs
What Flavors Does Lavender Pair Well With?
Lavender pairs well with bright citrus flavors like lemon and orange, as well as berries, honey, and vanilla. It also works nicely with herbs like mint and rosemary for a more complex, aromatic profile.
What Alcohol Goes Best With Lavender?
Lavender pairs best with light, botanical spirits like gin and vodka, and light, aromatic, and fruity wines like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or an off-dry Riesling. It also works well with rum, champagne, and even bourbon for a richer twist.
What Is The Most Popular Lavender Drink?
One of the most popular lavender drinks is a lavender lemonade, known for its bright, refreshing flavor, and why lemon makes a great fruit choice for this sangria. In cocktails, lavender mules, lavender gin sours, and lavender spritzes are also common favorites.
Tips For the Best Lavender Sangria
- For a stronger drink, add ½ to 1 ounce of vodka or gin to the drink!
- I use unsweetened sparkling water and a drier wine to help balance sweetness. For a sweeter drink, use more simple syrup, a sweeter wine, or soda. For a less sweet drink, add more unsweetened sparkling water, or even some fresh lemon juice
- The longer you soak the fruit in the sangria, the more flavorful it will be. You can serve this drink immediately, or prepare up to 24 hours in advance (without ice or the carbonated element) and store in the fridge until ready to serve
- Using frozen blueberries is a great way to give the drink extra chill with less ice (and therefore less dilution)

Serving Tips
- Use a large pitcher or glass dispenser for batches. Perfect for showing off the fruit and making it easy to serve a crowd!
- Garnish simply. A sprig of lavender, citrus slices, or fresh berries add an elegant touch!
- Use clear glassware. This lets the soft colors and fruit shine, which is part of the appeal! Both stemmed and stemless wine glasses are great choices
Final Thoughts
This lavender sangria is refreshing, fruity, and lightly floral, for a perfect spring and summer sip! Whether you make it by the glass or by the pitcher, it’s simple, highly customizable, and easy to make and enjoy.
I love to serve it up at summer cookouts or just enjoy a glass at night by the fire! But truly, it would look lovely at a garden party, shower, and even Mother’s Day too. It’s always a crowd-pleaser, and easy to adjust sweetness and strength for different tastes.
