These Hershey Kiss acorns are one of my favorite fall treats, because they’re easy to make, absolutely adorable, and loved by kids and adults alike. I scatter them across my Thanksgiving table for an edible decoration, but they’re equally great in a serving bowl for a fall treat anytime!

What Are Hershey Kiss Acorns?
Hershey Kiss acorns are cute, fall-themed treats that look like acorns, and they’re great for fall and Thanksgiving. Not only are they tasty, but they’re a fun seasonal craft and a perfect activity to do with the kids that you can all enjoy!
These chocolate acorns are made with a Hershey’s Kiss candy as the main body of the “acorn,” attached to a mini Nilla Wafer (or similar small cookie) with a dab of frosting, peanut butter, or melted chocolate.
A mini chocolate chip or similar small candy is then attached to the top of the wafer to make the acorn’s stem!
These no-bake Hershey’s kisses acorn treats are simple to make and are perfect for fall snack trays or dessert tables. They make a great edible table decor option for Thanksgiving, and are even nice for woodland-themed events too!

Hershey Kiss Acorn Ingredients

- 12 chocolate Kisses (such as Hershey), unwrapped
- 12 mini vanilla wafer cookies (such as Nilla)
- 12 mini chocolate chips
- ¼ cup chocolate chips (any kind) for melting
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- I’m using milk chocolate Hershey’s Kisses because they’re the most acorn-colored in my opinion. However, you can use any kind you like, and feel free to get filled ones (like almond or peanut butter)!
- Make sure to get the mini Nilla wafers that are about 1” wide instead of the regular ones, which are 2.5” wide and won’t look right. You can also substitute Nutter Butter bites instead if preferred
- The mini chocolate chip stems I usually use semisweet, but again anything is fine. You can also use a regular (full sized) chocolate chip or peanut butter chip instead
- Any kind of melting chocolate is fine for the remaining chocolate (even candy melts) as you’re just using it as a “glue” for the cookies and toppers. You can also use peanut butter, marshmallow Fluff, or even Nutella instead, which don’t even need melting! Note, though, that they won’t set as firmly
How to Make Hershey Kiss Acorns
- In a small microwave safe bowl, melt the ¼ cup of chocolate chips. Start with 30 seconds on high, then stir, and add additional time in 15-second increments as needed until smooth

- Dip the base of a mini chocolate chip into the melted chocolate (you just need a small amount), then press it onto the center of the rounded side of your mini Nilla wafer to create the acorn stems. Repeat until all are attached. If you find them too tiny to hold onto, use a pair of clean tweezers to assist

- Now, dip the flat end of the Kisses candies into the melted chocolate, then press it onto the flat side of the vanilla wafer, and gently set it aside to dry (a plate or baking sheet is fine). Repeat until all are assembled

- Let the chocolate harden for about 15-20 minutes (or pop them in the freezer to speed up the process, about 10 minutes)
- Serve!

Recipe FAQs
Can You Customize Hershey Kiss Acorns?
Yes, Hershey Kiss acorns can be customized by using different types of Kisses (such as dark chocolate, caramel-filled, or white chocolate), different cookies and chips, or colored frostings to suit your theme or personal tastes.
You can also try using a pretzel stick as a stem for added texture and flavor!
What Are Some Occasions to Serve Hershey Kiss Acorns?
Hershey Kiss acorns are perfect for fall-themed parties, Thanksgiving desserts, or even as cute no bake treats for Halloween or woodland-themed events.
They’re easy to make in large batches and serve as decorative and tasty additions to your table.
Recipe Pro Tips For the Best Chocolate Acorns
- You don’t need a lot of melted chocolate to adhere either the stem or the base chocolates – just a thin layer. If you get too much on accidentally, scrape off on the side of the bowl or a spatula so you don’t get a ton of overflow when adding to the cookie
- This recipe scales easily so feel free to make as many as you like! Once you have everything set up it takes just minutes to put together (and the kids can help) for a low stress treat!

Storage and Serving Tips For Hershey Kiss Acorns
- Store chocolate acorns in an airtight container or zippered bag at room temperature for up to one week. Keep in a cool, dark, dry place (such as a pantry) to prevent melting or weeping of chocolate (the refrigerator is not recommended since it can make the cookies soggy)
- You can serve Hershey’s Kiss acorns in a serving bowl or tray, in individual teacups, scattered across your table as edible decorations, or just on a platter with other desserts!
