What is a Frozen Vodka Lemonade?
A frozen vodka lemonade is a slushy, ice-blended cocktail made with vodka, lemonade, and ice and/or sorbet. You can sweeten it further or create variations with simple syrup or fresh fruit to add some customization options.
It’s similar to a spiked slushie, and is sweet, tart, cold, and perfect for hot days in the summertime! I like to make these when I’m throwing a backyard barbecue, but they’re also perfect for beach days, poolside, and more!
To make this easy boozy lemonade drink, you’ll just blend up the ingredients and serve – it’s simple, convenient, and most importantly, delicious!

Ingredients Needed

- 2 ounces Ciroc Limonata vodka (or similar)
- 2 ounces prepared lemonade (like Tropicana or Simply Lemonade)
- ½ cup lemon sorbet
- ½ cup ice (or as needed)
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- I like Ciroc Limonata which has notes of Italian lemon and lime for flavoring. However, you can also use any regular, lemonade, or lemon (citron) vodka or rum. You can also substitute a flavored vodka like strawberry, raspberry, or blueberry to make different flavor variations!
- Feel free to use pink lemonade or a flavored lemonade (like strawberry or raspberry lemonade) instead of plain (or substitute limeade)
- Any type of sorbet is really fine – I’m using a lemon coconut for a tropical twist because that’s what my local store had, but plain lemon or other blends (like lemon blueberry) are great too. You can substitute frozen lemonade concentrate as well if preferred!
Equipment Note
This recipe is made easiest with a blender. If you don’t have one, you can crush the ice with a food processor or a mallet in a zippered bag, and hand mix it with the other ingredients (you may need to let the sorbet soften slightly).
Step By Step Instructions
- Add all ingredients to your blender

- Blend on high or puree, depending on your available settings, until well combined

- Adjust the consistency if needed: add more ice to thicken or more lemonade to thin
- Pour into your glass, garnish with a slice of lemon or sprig of fresh mint if desired, and enjoy!

- Midori Daiquiri
Serving Suggestions
- Light appetizers like shrimp cocktail, bruschetta, or a fresh fruit platter
- Summer salads with arugula, feta, and citrus vinaigrette
- Grilled dishes such as chicken, seafood, or veggie skewers
- Sweet treats like lemon bars, shortbread cookies, or extra sorbet!
Recipe FAQs
What Alcohol Is Good in Frozen Lemonade?
Vodka is a classic choice for frozen lemonade because it blends seamlessly without overpowering the citrus flavor. Other great options include rum, which adds a tropical twist, gin, which enhances botanical notes, and tequila, which gives it a margarita-like vibe.
If you prefer something sweeter, Limoncello or flavored liqueurs like triple sec or peach schnapps work well.
Can I Make This with Limoncello?
Absolutely! Limoncello adds a bright, zesty lemon flavor with a hint of sweetness, making it a perfect addition to frozen lemonade. Replace some or all of the vodka with Limoncello for a more intense lemon kick.
Just keep in mind that Limoncello is sweeter than vodka, so you may want to adjust any added sugar or simple syrup.
Can I Make Kid-Friendly Frozen Lemonade?
Yes! To make a non-alcoholic frozen lemonade, simply blend fresh or store-bought lemonade with ice and/or sorbet until slushy. You can add honey, agave syrup, or fruit purees for extra sweetness and flavor.
For a fun twist, use sparkling lemonade or blend with frozen fruit like strawberries or raspberries for a colorful, refreshing treat!
Tips For the Best Frozen Vodka Lemonade
- To adjust sweetness, you can use homemade lemonade to better control overall sweetness levels, or omit the sorbet and use extra ice. As written, it’s on the sweeter side
- For a stronger drink, you can add more vodka, or even supplement with some limoncello for a bright citrus flavor! As written, it’s fairly low strength based on the ratio of liquor to mixers (perfect for sipping and relaxing)!

Storage and Serving Tips
- Garnishes are optional, but a lemon slice, twist of lemon peel, or a sprig of mint are all great options!
- Glassware is very versatile. Try a mason jar, pint glass, lowball, highball, hurricane, or daiquiri glass!
- Due to the frozen components, this drink is best enjoyed fresh just after blending. However, you can store leftovers in the fridge for up to 24 hours, and re-blend with ice to thicken before enjoying them
Final Thoughts
This easy frozen vodka lemonade is like the taste of summer in a glass! It’s cool, refreshing, creamy, sweet, and tart – everything you want in a cocktail during those warm days.
I love to use lemon sorbet for the fruity flavor and creaminess factor, but you can go with just ice for a more traditional slush – either way it’s going to be delicious!
With just 3 ingredients (plus ice) this boozy frozen lemonade is simple and great to make by the glass or the batch in a pitcher for entertaining. It’s always a hit with guests, especially for BBQs, pool parties, or just for sipping on a hot summer day.
