I first tried boozy French toast a few years back with Grand Marnier and oranges, and it was so good I knew I definitely had to make something similar again. This Crown peach whiskey French toast is my summery peach-flavored answer. Best of all, you can make it in the air fryer!

What is Crown Peach Whiskey French Toast?
Crown peach whiskey French toast, also known as boozy French toast or drunken French toast, is a variation of traditional French toast that incorporates Crown Royal peach whiskey into the egg mixture used to soak the bread.
This addition gives the French toast a unique, sweet, and mildly fruity flavor with hints of peach and a subtle whiskey undertone.
It is typically served as a breakfast or brunch dish and can be garnished with toppings like fresh peaches, whipped cream, or syrup to make for an elegant presentation.

While the French toast can be cooked on the stove, the air fryer provides a simple and convenient cooking method which requires less tending than the stove, and doesn’t heat your house like the oven.

Crown Peach Whiskey French Toast Ingredients

- 4 thick slices bread (I use a thick white bread)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- ¼ cup milk (or heavy cream if you want it really rich)
- 1 Tbsp Crown Royal peach whisky
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp vanilla
- Pinch of salt
Optional Peach Sauce Topping
- 1 cup sliced peaches (fresh or frozen)
- 1 Tbsp Crown Royal peach whisky
- 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1 Tbsp butter
- ½ Tbsp cornstarch
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- Any hearty, thick bread works, so use your favorite! Texas toast cut white bread, French, Challah, and whole grain are other great choices. Day old and slightly stale is fine as well, as it will soak up the egg better!
- Feel free to add other fruits for the topping (like raspberries or blueberries) to create different flavor combinations!
- Almond extract also works well if you don’t have any vanilla
- If you don’t want to make the peach topping, just skip it! This recipe works equally well with just butter and syrup, whipped cream, or powdered sugar on top!
How to Make Crown Peach Whiskey French Toast in the Air Fryer
- Spray your air fryer’s basket or rack with nonstick spray (or you can use a piece of parchment if preferred). The French toast is still going to stick a little, but this really minimizes it overall
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, Crown peach whisky, and a pinch of salt until well blended

- Dip your bread into the mixture on both sides, allowing it to soak up the liquid

- Shake off the excess, then place your soaked bread slices into the air fryer, allowing at least ½” air space between pieces

- Cook on the air fry setting at 400°F for 5 minutes. Then, carefully flip, and cook an additional 4-6 minutes, until browned to your liking
- Serve hot, topped with peach sauce (see below for instructions), maple syrup, butter, or powdered sugar!

How to Make the Peach Topping (Optional)
Stovetop
- Add all sauce ingredients to a saucepan over medium high heat
- Bring to a boil, then cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened
Air Fryer
- Place all sauce ingredients into an oven-safe baking dish that fits in your air fryer

- Cook alongside the French toast, stirring the peach mixture when you flip the toast
Note that it’s normal for the syrup to splatter during cooking in the air fryer, which may result in smoke coming from the air fryer if it hits the heating element. If this worries you, opt for the stove instead (or serve with different toppings)!

Boozy French Toast Recipe Tips
- You can also cook your French toast on the stove in a skillet over medium high heat. Melt 1 Tbsp butter for every 2 pieces of toast you make, and fry on both sides until golden brown
- Even if your air fryer basket is nonstick I still recommend spraying it with nonstick spray or brushing it with butter. The French toast does really like to stick because of the egg mixture
- I do not preheat my air fryer for this recipe and find that about 10-11 minutes total is perfect. For any subsequent batches, 9 minutes is usually fine, but you can adjust as necessary based on your specific air fryer
- My 8-qt air fryer can hold 4 slices of bread at a time, but I usually only make 2 at a time and put the peaches next to it. In short: if you need to cook in batches, it’s totally fine!

Storing and Reheating Drunken French Toast
- Store leftover peach French toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days
- Reheat drunken French toast in the oven at 400°F for 4-5 minutes (flip halfway), in the air fryer at 360°F for 2-3 minutes, or on the stovetop over medium high heat for the best texture
- Peach Galette in the Air Fryer
Final Thoughts
This Crown peach whiskey French toast is a delicious summery spin with notes of peach and whiskey in a classic breakfast dish. Thanks to the air fryer, there’s no standing over the stove or turning on the oven in the summer heat!
Boozy French toast is perfect for brunch, special occasions, or anytime you’d like a little fancier breakfast. I like to pair it with a refreshing Peach Crown Drink, but you can also opt for your favorite breakfast or brunch beverages.
While drunken French toast, as the name implies, isn’t suitable for kids due to the alcohol, it is nice for the adult crowd to indulge in creamy, delicious French toast with the perfectly brown crust.
