Cranberry is one of those flavors that finds its way into your fall gatherings like Thanksgiving, but is also perfect for the holiday season and Christmas too! Make your celebrations a little brighter with my cranberry lemon drop martini, a seasonal twist on a sweet and tart vodka cocktail!

What is a Cranberry Lemon Drop?
A cranberry lemon drop cocktail is a festive variation on the classic Lemon Drop Martini, incorporating cranberry juice for a seasonal flavor!
This cocktail follows the standard lemon drop martini recipe featuring vodka, fresh lemon juice, triple sec, and simple syrup, and then I’m adding cranberry juice for a vibrant, tart, fruity twist.
A sugar-rimmed glass is a must in my opinion, as it adds an elegant look but also a little extra sweetness to help offset the pucker from the lemon and the cranberries!

I serve this cocktail for Thanksgiving because it’s the perfect drink to pair with the classic cranberry sauce, but I also enjoy it during the holiday season and Christmas, as cranberries are perfectly festive and it’s always a favorite of guests!

Cranberry Lemon Drop Martini Ingredients

- 1 ½ oz vodka (or cranberry-flavored vodka)
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- ½ oz triple sec
- ½ oz simple syrup (or to taste)
- 1 ½ oz cranberry juice (I use 100% unsweetened)
For the Rim:
- Lemon wedge
- Granulated sugar (about 1 Tbsp)
Ingredient Tips and Substitutions
- If you can find cranberry vodka (Boardroom and Faber are some common brands) that will add extra flavor! If not, regular vodka works just fine too
- Instead of triple sec you can use another orange liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier (or omit it if you want, but it adds nice depth of flavor)
- For a sweeter drink, use cranberry juice cocktail which is sweetened instead of the 100% unsweetened cranberry juice. I prefer to start with unsweetened and add some simple syrup to taste, to give myself more customization ability
How to Make a Cranberry Lemon Drop Martini
- Rim your martini glass by running a lemon wedge around the outside rim to wet it, then dip it into a plate or shallow bowl with the sugar, turning to coat

- Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker (or similar) along with a couple ice cubes

- Shake until well chilled and lightly frothy, 20-30 seconds, then strain the mixture into your prepared martini glass

- Garnish with a slice of lemon and cranberries if desired (optional) and enjoy!

What to Serve With A Cranberry Lemon Drop
A cranberry lemon drop martini pairs beautifully with a variety of appetizers, light bites, and desserts that complement its sweet-tart, citrusy flavor. Here are some of my favorite choices:
Cheese and Charcuterie Board
Creamy and mild cheeses, like brie or goat cheese, balance the cocktail’s tartness, while cured meats and olives add a savory contrast. Adding dried cranberries or candied nuts also enhances the pairing with complementary flavors!
Try my Air Fryer Cranberry Brie Bites for a perfectly poppable combination!
Seafood
Light seafood options, like shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, or crab cakes, pair well with the refreshing acidity of a cranberry lemon drop. These seafood items bring out the drink’s bright citrus notes without overpowering it.
For a quick option, try frozen Aldi Crab Cakes in the Air Fryer, or how about some simple Air Fryer Shrimp Cocktail for an elegant appetizer?
Citrus Desserts
Lemon bars, cranberry orange scones, or mini cheesecakes with a berry topping mirror the cranberry lemon drop’s flavors while adding sweetness, making them an ideal dessert pairing!
Savory Pastry Bites
Small quiches (Air Fryer Frozen Mini Quiche are perfect for this), puff pastry bites (try Trader Joe’s Frozen Pastry Bites for a quick option), or stuffed mushrooms provide a rich and savory bite that balances the drink’s fruitiness.
Fresh Fruit
A platter with fresh cranberries, persimmons, citrus wedges, or pomegranate seeds adds a fresh, juicy element that mirrors the drink’s ingredients, making for a beautiful and delicious option!
Recipe FAQs
What Type of Vodka Works Best in a Cranberry Lemon Drop Martini?
A smooth, neutral vodka is generally preferred to let the cranberry and lemon flavors shine.
You could also opt for citrus or cranberry-flavored vodka to enhance the fruity notes in the drink.
Can You Make a Non-Alcoholic Version of a Cranberry Lemon Drop?
Yes, for a mocktail version, simply replace the vodka with sparkling water or club soda. You can omit the triple sec, or use a non-alcoholic triple sec syrup.
This keeps the refreshing flavors of cranberry and lemon while making it alcohol-free!
Is There a Substitute for Simple Syrup?
If you don’t have simple syrup, you can use honey or agave syrup for a different sweet note.
Alternatively, you could use a sugar cube – stir to dissolve in the lemon juice before mixing!
Recipe Pro Tips For the Best Cranberry Lemon Drop
- This cocktail is medium strength as written. For a stronger drink, add up to 2 ounces vodka and 1 ounce triple sec. To make it weaker, reduce vodka to 1 ounce, or cut with additional cranberry juice
- I feel the sweetness is well balanced in conjunction with the sugared rim, but you can add more simple syrup for a sweeter drink, or more tart cranberry or lemon juice to reduce sweetness

Serving and Storage Tips
- A martini glass is the most common choice in cocktail glasses for a lemon drop. However, you can use a couple or white wine glass in a pinch!
- Garnishes are optional, but a sugared rim is traditional, while a twist of lemon peel or a slice of lemon is a nice touch. Add some frozen cranberries for a fun look that also helps to keep your drink chilled (or fresh cranberries just for the look). For extra flair, you could also add a rosemary sprig, which is especially nice for holiday presentations!
- Make Ahead. You can prepare this cocktail up to 24 hours in advance (scale for desired number of servings). Store in a pitcher in the fridge until ready to serve. Then, rim glasses, pour, and enjoy!

Final Thoughts
A cranberry lemon drop is the perfect tart and sweet mixed drink that’s a fruity twist on a classic cocktail. This martini features lemon, vodka, triple sec, and simple syrup for the traditional base, with the addition of cranberry juice for a lovely red color and tangy flavor.
I love to serve this drink at Thanksgiving because it’s a great seasonal fall flavor and looks fancy too. However, it’s also great for Christmas and the holiday season in general, so you can truly enjoy it for a variety of occasions, like your next holiday party!
