Canned Corned Beef Hash in the Air Fryer – Easy Breakfast!

Corned beef hash is a breakfast I used to enjoy while camping, served hot from a cast iron skillet over the fire. Nowadays, instead of lighting a fire pit to make it, I cook canned corned beef hash in the air fryer

Why You Should Make This Recipe

Starting with canned corned beef hash saves time, though definitely feel free to make your own if you want to use up St. Patrick’s Day leftovers.

Whether canned or fresh, your air fryer does an incredible job of getting that golden crust on the corned beef, while heating the potatoes perfectly.

The best part is that it only takes about 15 minutes to achieve that, so it makes for a quick, easy, and hearty breakfast even on busy mornings.

You can even crack your eggs in there and make air fryer canned corned beef hash and eggs!

What You’ll Need

canned corned beef hash ingredients
  • 14-ounce can corned beef hash (such as Hormel Mary Kitchen Homestyle)
  • 2 large eggs (optional)

Special equipment note: You’ll need something to keep the hash from falling through the grates of your air fryer. This can be foil, parchment paper, a casserole dish, cake pan, or similar.

I use a casserole dish because I think it’s easier to stir in, and makes cleanup a breeze.

Ingredient Substitutions and Variations

  • Hash. Any brand of regular or low sodium corned beef hash is fine (such as Armour, Great Value, or others), and you can use a larger can if you prefer. You may need to cook in batches to accommodate the larger size, though
  • Eggs. The eggs are entirely optional, and only if you want to make corned beef hash and eggs

Recipe FAQs

Can You Air Fry Canned Corn Beef Hash?

Yes, you can air fry canned corn beef hash.

The air fryer delivers the same browning and crisping that cooking in a skillet or griddle will. You will, however, need to use a pan or line your air fryer with foil to prevent the hash from falling through.

How Long to Cook Corned Beef Hash in an Air Fryer?

On average, it takes about 15 minutes to cook corned beef hash in the air fryer.

However, depending on how browned and crispy you prefer it to be, additional time may be added as needed.

Is Canned Corned Beef Hash Already Cooked?

Yes, canned corned beef hash is already cooked.

Technically, it may be safely consumed directly from the can. However, for both texture and flavor, heating and browning it is highly recommended.

Do You Flip Corned Beef Hash in the Air Fryer?

You don’t have to flip corned beef hash in the air fryer, but it is recommended for more even browning.

If you do not flip it, you’ll get a browned crust on top, but the underside will be pink and soft. Turning a couple times throughout cooking promotes more even crisping throughout.

Recipe Pro Tips

  • It is normal for the hash to “pop” a bit in the air fryer, and it sometimes pops during stirring as well, so use caution
  • If you are adding eggs, 5 minutes should give you runny, barely set eggs. 10 minutes achieves a hard boiled consistency. Judge your cooking time accordingly based on preference
  • I used two small rectangular casserole dishes because I have a Ninja Dual Zone air fryer with two baskets. You can just as easily use one larger pan that fits in a single basket air fryer or air fryer oven
