Corned beef hash is a breakfast I used to enjoy while camping, served hot from a cast iron skillet over the fire. Nowadays, instead of lighting a fire pit to make it, I cook Hormel canned corned beef hash in the air fryer.

Why Make Canned Corned Beef Hash in the Air Fryer
Starting with Hormel (or another brand) of canned corned beef hash saves time, though definitely feel free to make your own if you want to use up St. Patrick’s Day leftovers.
Whether you’re using canned or fresh, your air fryer does an incredible job of getting that golden crust on the corned beef, while heating the potatoes perfectly!
The best part is that it only takes about 15 minutes to achieve that, so it makes for a quick, easy, and hearty breakfast even on busy mornings.

You can even crack your eggs in there and make air fryer canned corned beef hash and eggs for a complete meal!

Ingredients You’ll Need

- 14-ounce can corned beef hash (such as Hormel Mary Kitchen Homestyle)
- 2 large eggs (optional)
special equipment note:
You’ll need something to keep the hash from falling through the grates of your air fryer. This can be foil, parchment paper, a casserole dish, cake pan, or similar oven-safe dish that fits in your air fryer.
I use a casserole dish because I think it’s easier to stir in, and makes cleanup a breeze! If you want to cook eggs, you’ll need something with a solid bottom as well (not parchment or foil)
Substitutions and Variations
- Hash. Any brand of regular or low sodium corned beef hash is fine (such as Armour, Great Value, or others), and you can use a larger can if you prefer. You may need to cook in batches to accommodate the larger size, though
- Eggs. The eggs are entirely optional, and only if you want to make corned beef hash and eggs
How to Cook Corned Beef Hash From a Can in the Air Fryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (or 375°F is fine, depending on what settings your air fryer has)
- Open your can of hash

- Add the hash to some foil, parchment, or a baking dish that fits in your air fryer. Break it up as you go so it’s in an even layer

- Place the hash and whatever it’s on into your preheated air fryer basket

- Cook on the air fry setting for 15 minutes at 370°F, pausing every 5 minutes to stir the hash around. If desired, you may add additional time to achieve your ideal level of browning
- If you want to make hash and eggs in the air fryer, after the initial 15 minutes of cooking time have passed, remove hash from air fryer

- Using a spoon, make a well or two in the hash

- Crack an egg into each well

- Return the basket to the air fryer and continue to cook at 370°F for 5 minutes, or until eggs are set to desired level
- Serve and enjoy!

Recipe FAQs
Can You Air Fry Canned Corn Beef Hash?
Yes, you can air fry canned corn beef hash.
The air fryer delivers the same browning and crisping that cooking in a skillet or griddle will. You will, however, need to use a pan or line your air fryer with foil to prevent the hash from falling through.
How Long to Cook Corned Beef Hash in an Air Fryer?
On average, it takes about 15 minutes to cook corned beef hash in the air fryer.
However, depending on how browned and crispy you prefer it to be, additional time may be added as needed.
Is Canned Corned Beef Hash Already Cooked?
Yes, canned corned beef hash is already cooked.
Technically, it may be safely consumed directly from the can. However, for both texture and flavor, heating and browning it is highly recommended.
Do You Flip Corned Beef Hash in the Air Fryer?
You don’t have to flip corned beef hash in the air fryer, but it is recommended for more even browning.
If you do not flip it, you’ll get a browned crust on top, but the underside will be pink and soft. Turning a couple times throughout cooking promotes more even crisping throughout.
Do You Need To Preheat The Air Fryer For Corned Beef Hash?
Preheating the air fryer is recommended for cooking canned corned beef hash, though it isn’t explicitly necessary.
It helps ensure that the hash cooks evenly and gets crispy faster. Preheat the air fryer for 3-5 minutes before placing the corned beef hash inside.
Can You Add Vegetables Or Eggs To Corned Beef Hash In The Air Fryer?
Yes, you can add vegetables or eggs to the corned beef hash. Adding diced potatoes, onions, or bell peppers can enhance the flavor. The excess moisture from vegetables may add a few minutes to cooking time.
You can also create a well in the hash and crack an egg during the last few minutes of cooking to create a heartier meal.
Recipe Pro Tips For the Best Canned Corned Beef Hash
- It is normal for the hash to “pop” a bit in the air fryer, and it sometimes pops during stirring as well, so use caution
- If you are adding eggs, 5 minutes should give you runny, barely set eggs. 10 minutes achieves a hard boiled consistency. Judge your cooking time accordingly based on preference
- I used two small rectangular casserole dishes to cook my Hormel hash because I have a Ninja Dual Zone air fryer with two baskets. You can just as easily use one larger pan that fits in a single basket air fryer or air fryer oven

Storage and Reheating Tips For Hormel Corned Beef Hash
- Store any leftover Hormel corned beef hash in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. If you’ve added eggs, then it’s best consumed in 3 days or less
- To reheat hash in the air fryer, place a portion in a small oven safe dish or on a piece of foil. Air fry at 350°F for 3-5 minutes, or until warmed through. Note that you can reheat the eggs this way as well, but they do tend to get a little more rubbery and set
